Benarrawa acknowledges the Yagarabul Peoples, the Traditional and Spiritual Custodians of Yagara (Yuggera) Country. "Benarrawa" is a Yagara name for the waters and lands of the, now named, Oxley Creek. Elders gave permission to use it upon incorporation in 1995.
